It’s Magic!

I’ll be quite honest, when I first started drawing Moon Hunters, the first issue was kind of really loosely laid out. I really built the world very fluidly. I knew I wanted to stay away from things like Dragons and Elves and things like that. But magic… magic was something I wasn’t sure about. Ultimately I decided it wasn’t really fantasy if you didn’t have a little magic. So in it went.

Romly also was a character that at first I wasn’t sure would last, but I’ve actually come to love something about him. I still don’t think I’ve done some of the characters the justice they deserver but I do have big plans for him in the second series.

Moon Hunters: Tales of the River Folk is a fantasy comic written and illustrated by Matthew Childers. It tells the story of a young headstrong Hornling girl named Lyria, whose misadventures put her people in grave peril and her quest to right her wrongs and protect her fellow River Folk.
